Where to Find the Best…in North Park: Part I

Even in a small town, you can get lost trying to figure out where to find the business and services you are looking for. Here’s some frequently asked questions about essentials and where to find them that you won’t want to miss.

Where Can I Find an ATM in Walden, CO?

Do you need cash? Walden has three ATMs for your cash needs. Whether you are buying some handcrafted items at a craft festival (link) or paying for drinks at the local watering hole, cash it king in North Park. Remember that due to how isolated Walden is, you might not be able to withdraw cash at locations such as the Family Dollar in town, due to limited funds.
 

• Mountain Valley Bank: 461 Main Street in Walden is where you’ll find our local bank with an indoor 24 Hour ATM kiosk for all your cash needs. Low ATM fees, indoor surveillance, and protection from the elements make it a pleasure to withdraw cash at this location. 
   
• Corkle’s Mini Mart: On the corner of HWY 14 and 125 (597 Main St), you’ll find this Shell gas station near you with snacks, cold beverages, hunting and fishing licenses, and of course an ATM. • Corkle Oil Co. is an out of the way location best suited for RVs, trucks, and yes even the family car. There’s no souvenirs or ice cream here, but you will have easy access to high-profile vehicles such as campers and trucks, vehicles with large capacity tanks, and even fill your empty propane bottles without swapping them out! Where Can I Buy Ice in Walden, CO?

Keeping your snacks and drinks cold is crucial when you are on the road. There are several places to stock up on ice in Walden.

Corkle’s Mini Mart and the Walden Sinclair Station are good places to go for ice in Walden, CO, but North Park Super’s one mile north of Walden also has bags of ice for your camper, car, boat, or parties! 

Where to Buy Groceries, Meat, Fresh Veggies, and Canned Food Supplies in Walden, CO

As much fun as eating out can be on a road trip, sometimes you want to cook something yourself, or for people with dietary needs, you want to have other options. From batteries to milk and eggs (and just about everything in-between), grab a shopping cart and load up during your visit!

• North Park Super’s: One mile north of Walden, CO on HWY 125, just past Airport Hill (the bluff with the big white NP on the side) you’ll find North Park Super’s. It’s a locally owned and operated grocery store featuring canned food, baking supplies, fresh produce, rotisserie chickens, deli meats, a butcher shop, milk, eggs, and cold beer. 
• Family Dollar: The Family Dollar is located on the corner of 4th Street and Main St. In Walden, CO. There you can find frozen food such as pizzas, burritos, fried chicken, cheese sticks, pot pies, and other heat and eat entrees. You’ll also find a selection of canned food, chips and drinks, baking ingredients, pet food, small electronics and housewares.

Where to Find OTC/Pharmacy Items Near Me

Even though North Park no longer has a pharmacy to fill your prescriptions, there are a few places you can stop to get over the counter pharmacy items.

• Antihistamines
• Pain killers (Tylenol, Motrin, NSAIDs, etc.)
• First Aid Kit supplies
• Toiletries and personal care items

You’ll be able to find over-the-counter medicine at the Family Dollar, North Park Super’s, Corkle’s Mini Mart, and the Walden Sinclair Station. Be sure to check these locations for canned oxygen, which can be a big help in treating symptoms of altitude sickness for those coming up from lower elevations.

For emergency medical services, call 911, or visit the North Park Medical Clinic for urgent care emergencies. North Park Fire and Rescue, the Jackson County Sheriff's Office, ambulance and search and rescue services are all dispatched through 911 emergency services. 

Best Places to Get Coffee in Walden

For other emergencies, especially the caffeine-related kind, this is what you need to know. If you are jonesing for a latte or a good cup of diner strength coffee, there are a few places you can check out in Walden. 

• Rita’s Cafe: Located on First Street, just a block west of Main St. on the north end of Walden. Rita’s Cafe serves breakfast and lunch, along with a selection of delicious coffee made fresh.
• River Rock: Serving breakfast, lunch, and dinner, you can get your coffee fix at the River Rock, along with a selection of burgers, sandwiches, and daily specials. 

Off the Beaten Path, but Still Has What You Need

Walden sits at the hub of two major highways that connect North Park with its closest neighbors. If you are coming in on HWY 125/127 from Wyoming, or if you are driving in from the Front Range on HWY 14 or US40, it might seem like Walden is in the middle of nowhere! Home to nearly 2000 residents, North Park has all sorts of places to get what you are looking for. You don’t have to pack everything but the kitchen sink on your visit!
